The hidden History of Japan Red Cross Society: Kumamoto is the Birth Place
The history of Japan Red Cross Society started at the birth of a Hakuaisha (Philanthropic Society), which was established in May, 1877 to bring indiscriminate aid to the wounded of the Seinan Senso (the South West Civil War) in Kumamoto. This exhibition focuses the history of Japan Red Cross Society related to Kumamoto and the masterpieces by Kaii Higashiyama, Seiji Togo, Ryohei Koiso and many other artists from Japan Red Cross Society’s collection.
